The short wheelbase version of the GMC 2 1/2 ton 6x6 truck was originally intended as an artillery tractor. However, that duty soon fell to larger 4 and 7 ton 6x6 trucks, and then to High Speed Tractors. Therefore the 352 was not as popular as the 353 series cargo/personnel carriers.
