When you use bigger towers the tracks may get instable. By connecting adjacent towers you can gain some stability.

may also be used to connect the ground plates together, but please be aware as all printed gravitrax models, don't place the prints directly into the ground plates, as the rough layers slightly destroy your ground plates. So take one of the original spacers for the ground plates and then put own printed stuff ontop.
