Groovy Dry Box

As I needed a dry box to store PETG filament spools while printing, I decided to make one using 4 skateboard wheel bearings I had laying around.

To do so I have modeled and printed custom u-groove sleeves to slide on the bearings, and then insert the bearings on two threaded rods, held by two supports of which the model is also uploaded.

The wheel bearings are standard 22mm outer diameter, 8mm inner diameter and 7mm thick.
These are then inserted on two 12" long 5/16" diameter coarse threaded metal rod and held in place by 5/16" nuts, as showed in the pictures.

The rods are then supported by two supports and placed in a 20Qt Sterilite air tight storage box with a little sticky putty to hold in place.

A 10mm threaded PTFE tube fitting is then screwed in a hole made with a 9mm drill bit and a 4mm inner diameter PTFE tubing is used to drive the filament to the printer.

With the spools positioned on the bearings, pulling the filament is extremely smooth!
