Hi all, Me and my group are currently working on a Project at my University, where we test 3D printed Gyroid Cubes. When I saw the math contest I thought this would fit perfectly in here. The Gyroid Structure is a minimal surface, which means a surface with the locally smallest possible area. Its structure is found in many places in nature, for example in the wings of butterflies. Mathematically, the gyroid can be described by a complex equation involving sine and cosine functions. The basic form of the equation looks like this: sin(x)cos(y)+sin(y)cos(z)+sin(z)cos(x)=0This equation defines the points (x, y, z) that lie on the surface of the gyroid. I created this STL with the help of a programm called Matlab and a script I found online. If you are Interested in the source of the script feel free to message me. The Gyroid Structure is mostly used to create lightweight, strong materials. For example this cube can easily hold more than 2500 Newtons with the right print settings, and it ha
