We tend to have a little bit of a mouse problem. Even though we have four cats, the mice are smart enough to only live in the walls and ceiling of the basement, where the cats can't go. We put some live traps up there last year, but it got to be a real bother to keep getting in the ceiling to check them and then carry the mice out to the field and let them go. So yesterday I built a new kind of mouse trap!
It's a 'tin cat' style mousetrap that goes in the ceiling, with a 3D printed passthrough that leads out of the ceiling and into a habitrail cage. The 3D printed part I designed has a habitrail-style connector on the end so it connects right up like any other habitrail part.
They say if you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door. But you can calm down, world; there's already a path to my door.
Incidentally, this part also works great for building custom additions to your habitrail.
