Another interesting tool from my toolbox. It is a "Hacksaw" with a rigid metal frame (flat steel) and a wooden grip, for standard saw blades, as accurately modeled. The frame is made of a steel band (width = 10 mm, thickness = 5 mm), which is subsequently bended, partially machined and anodized. The grip has an inserted threaded hexagon nut, for tensioning the saw blade in connection with a threaded tensioning bolt, by turning the grip in clockwise direction. Notes: Hexagon nut pressed into the wooden grip. Bushing pressed onto the cylindrical surface of the wooden grip, respectively onto the six flat surfaces of the hexagon nut. Metrical threads (M8 x 1,25) are modeled with theoretical values (no clearance). The main assembly shows the untensioned state of the metal saw frame, respectively of the saw blade. The stroke of tensioning is max. approx. 4,8 mm, acc. to the 3D-Model. The saw blade is unfortunately modeled without off-set teeth. (No idea, how to model it in »PTC Creo Parametric 2.0«, so that it looks rather realistic). Help is welcome at any time, to find a solution for modeling saw blades with off-set teeth. Model available in the formats: STEP (.stp) Native files (.prt) and (.asm) in a "zipped" folder, for users of »PTC Creo Parametric 2.0«
