With this design my goal was to create an analog handbrake for simulator, with the least amount of parts and material needed. The rod is a 22x22 mm wood piece.
I'm using it with a potentiometer from the Leo Bodnar webshop. It's completely closed, so you don't have to clean it from the dust, like on Logitech pedalsets.
The electronic that I'm using is also from the Leo Bodnar webshop, but you can use anything you want. The advantage of it for me, that it's plug and play, I just have to calibrate it, and it recognized by every game so far I tried.
The real picture represent an earlier version of the design.
You might have to drill the hole on the small gear to fit it on the potentiometer. It have to be a tight fit.
The hardware you need to build this handbrake:
-M6x50 screw
-M6 nut
-4 mm wood screw
-Rubber band
Electronics:
-Potentiometer, 10k, linear (http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_81&products_id=193)
-Electronic board (http://
