To be honest, the only thing left is the solar panel at this point. So, why not just build a whole one from scratch? I think it looks very standard with just a solar panel and an antenna. Here is the link to the solar light: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Harbor-Breeze-60LM-Solar-Flood-Light-0-6-Watt-Black-Solar-LED-Flood-Light/1002689960
This is designed to:
- holds up to 3 x 18650 batteries. You can use only 1, 2 or 3
- has an air-gap, so the battery is not directly on the exterior housing, so wind does not "suck" the heat out of the battery like a heat sink
- is only slightly deeper than the original
- eliminated the push button, so there is less of chance of water entry
- capable for using the standard RAK meshtastic starter kit or the compact board.
Next Steps:
- Monitor the batteries during cold weather.
- Add the BOM for the materials used
- Maybe just buy a 5 pack of solar panels and print the whole thing
- make a different wall mount to support the extra weight.
