Gas Tank Lid for Harley Tri-Glide (and similar)
Tank size = 6 gal. Cowling’s are different on various models so be sure to check and scale if needed.
The Harley Lid does not open far enough to be user-friendly for filling with fuel. The chrome is too bright/reflective… I designed this a few years ago and the prototype is still in use (made a backup but haven’t used it).
There are Three plastic-printed parts: Lid, Rear Latch and Bottom.
The Bottom sits inside the cowling, The Lid is glued to the Bottom and Rear Latch is either/both screwed/glued.
The front metal latch will capture inside the existing cutout in the cowling. I bent a piece of Spring-wire for the Original(ABS) and it’s still in use. The backup(PLA) uses flat-spring material from a garage-door opener (bent and ground).
When all is finished, adjust the Lid’s position and shim the Rear Latch (if needed) - I oozed some Silicone adhesive into the area shown for shimming - still working after more than 500 tan
