This is a project original completed by mechanical engineering students at the University of Alabama called Reload the Earlobe. I have been working with Vision Rehabilitation Therapists to find an easier way for their clients who have low vision, poor dexterity, and hearing impairments to remove and replace batteries in their hearing aids. A team of senior design students at UA decided to work with us on the project, and came up with this design after several iterations and device trials with patients at a local audiology clinic. It is designed to work with a 5 mm x 2.8mm magnet and a 40mm suction cup.
I have modified the claw to ensure a tighter fit so the 2 pieces can be joined with Acetone if you print it with ABS.
The magnets used are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NFTXJR4
The suction cups are: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F2MGZR8X
