A common issue with many filament dryers is direct upward hot-air flow from the heater, which can expose filament spools to localized overheating. This often leads to softened or melted filament, sticking between filament layers, and even permanent spool damage—especially when drying low-temperature materials like PLA. To solve this problem, a custom 3D-printed heater flow diffuser was designed to manage and redirect airflow inside the filament dryer. Positioned above the heat source, the diffuser blocks direct contact between hot air and the filament spool. Instead, it reroutes the airflow toward the sides of the drying chamber, allowing heat to circulate evenly around the filament. This indirect heating approach eliminates hot spots and provides uniform temperature distribution, ensuring effective moisture removal without risking filament deformation. By guiding air along the chamber walls, the diffuser maintains drying efficiency while significantly improving filament safety. The di
