The Replicator is awesome! The spool holders are not:
1) The plastic is pulled from one side of the spool, eventually causing snags and "air prints"
2) It's hard the reach back, squeeze the clip, and pull the spool out.
3) Because of the spool molding, one tends to stay straight better than the other, since they are mounted symmetrically.
My solution:
1) Mount 2 spools at 45 degrees to the intake hoses. This ensures the filament is taken up mostly from the center.
2) Have plenty of gaps in the spool mount structure to thread cables, power cords, etc.
3) Be able to lift spool out with one hand, and then pull the cylinder out from it. You could even make extra cylinders and just leave them on your spools!
Includes the original design file (Adobe Illustrator) and the files to zap it out on a laser (assumes 24x12" sheets of eight-inch hobby plywood)
