I drew an Optical Illusion of a Frame with Helical Gears and I wanted to see if I could create the effect with 3D Printed parts.
I printed the Frame upside down WITHOUT support.
I printed the gears WITH support.
I put threads in the Gears and Collars for Set Screws but they were a slight press fit so I didn’t need them.
Threads in Frame: 6-32 UNC
Thread in Gears: 8-32 UNC
Thread in Crank: 10-24 UNC
Thread in Lower Shaft: 6-32 UNC
Threads in Upper Shaft: 10-24 UNC
Threads in Collar: 8-32 UNC
If you’re taking a picture of the finished print assembled, place the camera as far back as possible, and use the zoom. The farther away the focal point is, the better it looks. Also, place lights to highlight the dark areas so the frame looks evenly lit.
