Hemingway and Agnes

Ernest Hemingway volunteered as an ambulance Driver with the Red Cross during the Great War. He was sent to Italy, where he would drive a Fiat ambulance until he was wounded by mortar fire and sustained wounds to his legs. While Recouperating, he met Agnes von Kurowsky, a red cross nurse, and reportedly fell in love. Despite this, Agnes would go on to marry an italian officer.
