Summary A set of pieces for playing any of the tafl game variants. With an un-styled, Runic inscribed, and Ogham inscribed king piece. The Runic inscription (read top to bottom) says "Jarl" (nobleman, leader) on one side and "Tafl" (table, hnefatafl means fist table) on the other. The Ogham inscription, read bottom to top and made for Irish variants like Brandubh and Fidchell reads "Ruiri" (King) on both sides. The goal of the defenders is to get the king piece to a the corner, or in some rule variants just to the edge of the board to win. While the attackers have the goal of capturing the king before it reaches its objective. Capturing is done by surrounding a piece on 2 sides.
