The standoffs ensure that the bag stays open and your bees can fully access the feeding bag. The originals have both the standoffs and cutter as a single tool, but I have separated the two functions. By all means go buy the originals from Hive Alive and support a good company, but if you find them sold out like I did, these work well and are installed in all 5 of my hives.
