Since my printer is in a tight space and I have limited room for spools, I use a hanger to keep an extra spool ready. When I need to switch colors quickly, I can move that spool to a horizontal reel, hang up a new roll, and swap filaments without hassle.
The original spool holder design didn’t work well for me—it was either too small or too big for my Elegoo and Anycubic filament reels. It also used a 608Z bearing, but the bearing kept falling out of the top or bottom, and the two pieces didn’t stay together securely. This caused friction and wobbling during prints.
To fix these issues, I modified the holder by making the hole smaller and the peg larger for a tighter, more snug fit. Now, the bearing does all the work smoothly, eliminating wobble and improving reliability.
Still using the same 608z bearing and I added a cork bottom that just sticks to it to keep it from sliding around. Got the cork on amazon.
