His poetry is a prime example of the literature of the Bulgarian National Revival, though he is considered to be ahead of his contemporaries in his political, philosophical, and aesthetic views.Botev was born in Kalofer, Bulgaria, to Botyo Petkov and Ivanka Boteva.
