After a great year with the HyperCube by Tech2C and many kg's of printed filament I wanted to change the *sloppy* Linear rods and bearings in the X and Y Axis to something more rigid. Of course i could have spend quite some money with switching them out for quality rods and bearings or maybe also upgrade to a higher diameter but in my opinion this would also just be a compromise since they are only supported at both ends and can flex quite a little, especially in the middle of the rods during quick movements or at certain frequencies. So i think the advantages of Linear Rails like the Hiwin MGN ones for example (or even their chinese clones) against linear rods are pretty obvious.
I spent something around 40€ for:
2x 250mm MGN12 rails (Y axis)
1x 300mm MGN12 rail (X axis)
1x 393mm 2020 Aluminium Profile (X Axis)
25x M3 Nuts
25x M3 T-Nuts (For mounting the rails to the aluminum profiles)
4x M5 T-Nuts (To mount the 2020 X Axis profile to the XY-Carrier)
25x M3x8mm c
