IKEA Mandal Plastic Shelf

The shelves of the Mandal headboard can present a problem. In my case, the problem arose in my beach house, a small villa nestled in a pine forest, uninhabited during the winter, where humidity levels can reach 90%. Under this stressful situation, the Mandal's birch plywood structure did not warp. The problem was the shelves, which are made of wood fiber (MDF/particleboard), which absorbed moisture and swelled. So, the idea was to replace them with versions made of PLA or PETG, which are more resistant to humidity!
If you have a large printer you can use the 'full' version, otherwiser there are shorter versions that can be printed in couples and assembled using a dovetail joint and eventually some glue. Full version has the original length of 277.5 mm and width of 300.0 mm. Half versions are provided in different lengths: 77.5 mm, 177.5 mm, 277.5 mm.
