Printing Tips for the Ikea Replacement Rail
Material Selection:

Since this is a rail and wheel assembly, it will be subject to constant friction and mechanical load. I do not recommend using PLA, as it is too brittle and wears down quickly.

The best choice would be PETG (due to its balance of strength and ease of use) or, ideally, Nylon, which offers self-lubricating properties perfect for moving mechanical parts.

Orientation and Supports:

Orientation is critical for structural integrity. Ensure that the stress on the wheel axle or the rail flanges does not run parallel to the layer lines to prevent shearing.

Supports will likely be necessary, especially for the internal cavity where the wheel sits or for any overhanging edges of the rail profile.

Print Settings:

Infill: Use at least 40-50% with a strong pattern such as Gyroid or Cubic.

Wall Line Count (Perimeters): Increase this to 4 or 5 walls. In mechanical parts, wall thickness provides significantly more structural strengt
