This is an intersection of silhouettes. I teach at Ball State University, and I've used "Ball State" for a lot of experiments with intersecting geometries. I often use the same technique with people's names, with concepts, or even with non-text shapes. It generally takes about a minute to do a top+front intersection with someones first+last name or the names of a couple.
Instead of a top+front intersection, you can try a front+right, a 3-way, angles other than 90 degrees, text that follows a curved path, diagonals, and more. The examples illustrated here we made with a ZCorp Z510, a Form2, and a Replicator 2X (the last not having any supports, and manually removing supports can be prohibitive. I've described the method at
Flowers, J. (2016). Intersecting silhouettes. Technology & Engineering Teacher, Electronic Supplement, 75(8), 1-8.
