Iris Box

I designed and built this box on and off over the course of a few years. The mechanism is a 3D-cam driven 6 part iris, timed to a central barrel cam. I have received many requests to make plans, so here we go.I cannot guarantee these plans are without mistakes, but they are my honest best effort to document what I did, and offer fixes and improvements to what did not work for me. About 10% of the design presented here is changed from what I built, and I have provided CAD models for most of the parts with the exception of some of the woodworking.Be advised that this project is a significant undertaking and requires a moderate to advanced knowledge of manual and CNC woodworking, machining and 3D printing. I highly recommend reading these plans in their entirety to understand the scope of work and the equipment required. Of course, simplifications to the design, use of different materials, or the use of alternate manufacturing methods can be used, but I will leave that up to the maker.Che
