Using the star pattern from my Islamic Design Clothes Hanger (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1239548) I made a square screen, or mini jali* with the idea that multiple units could be fitted together to make one large screen. I have always loved the stone screens "jali" as I have written about on my blog: http://museumofperipheralart.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-second-millennium-stone-age.html
I had a few problems printing this - not because of the design. A couple edges curled up and in the final passes the printer wigged out and started printing like a spider on acid. I had to cut off one corner (lower right in window shot) and cut out all the wayward filament, which took about half an hour. I am still happy with it. The file is final and the design is solid.
*A jali or jaali, (Hindi:जाली jālī, meaning "net") is the term for a perforated stone or latticed screen, usually with an ornamental pattern constructed through the use of calligraphy and geometry. This form of architectura
