I had initially just planned on buying one of these tools, then I started measuring the cam, and realized that all the dimensions were really easy and obvious inch fractions, and that the function of the tool was pretty basic...and came to the conclusion that I could make my own. It doesn't require .00001" accuracy...It just holds the cam at a particular position, while you put the chain on...the actual cam timing is done elsewhere. It worked perfectly, and the engine ran great!
