A jet engine is a type of reaction engine that generates thrust by expelling a high-speed jet of gas. It operates on the principle of Newton's Third Law: "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." Air is drawn into the engine, compressed by a series of rotating blades, mixed with fuel, and ignited. The resulting high-pressure exhaust gases are expelled through a nozzle, producing thrust to propel an aircraft forward. Jet engines are commonly used in airplanes due to their high efficiency at high speeds and altitudes.
