This is a model of human chromosomes for genetics students to learn about karyotypes. This was designed to simulate the process of sorting chromosomes in actual genetic testing. The objective is to perform a karyotype by identifying every chromosome. Students will be given a full set (2 prints of full file) and a description of the each chromosome. Using the descriptions, students will pair the chromosomes with the homologs. Students can also identify chromosomal sex of the individual and translations, deletions or transmutations.

This lesson was created for the NCSU Genetics department through a Diversity Mini-Grant from North Carolina State University.
