I've used a Goldtouch split keyboard for over a decade which has a really nice built-in tenting solution, but I wanted to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard. I went with the Keychron Q11 because it is a split mechanical keyboard that could lend itself well to the same tenting design, and is hot swappable so I can swap out the reds for some switches I can use for work and gaming.
I liked some of the wedge-type designs on Thingiverse, but none of them seemed like they would be a good candidate for this keyboard. Besides tenting at a certain angle, I also wanted to space the 2 halves from each other in a consistent manner to make typing easier. That is the purpose of the connector piece, as it will space the two halves from each other in a very solid feeling manner.
