Tools take up a lot of valuable space in our toolboxes. I've tried various approaches to organizing my pliers and similar hand tools. I prefer them laying flat so I can identify the tool easier, but that takes a lot of space. I've tried the racks that hold them verticle and while that did allow me to store more in drawer, I had to use a taller drawer which I do not have many of. They also tended to move out of the rack every time I opened or closed a drawer. My solution was to design Gridfinity trays around the handle of each tool and allow the head of the tool to “nest” in a corresponding tray of another tool in front of it. This allowed relatively close storage of the tools, increased the number of tools I could store in a drawer, while allowing me to easily identify each tool. The trays also ensure that the tools do not move when opening and closing the drawers. Please note, in order to optimize the tray size, the bottom gridfinity square on each tray has been reduced to 10.
