This was a project that a friend of mine requested I make. All of the data comes from NOAA/National Centers for Environmental Information and comes from http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/greatlakes/michigan.html. This model is considered in the public domain as the information is freely available online and you need to attribute that the data came from NOAA.
The point cloud that I started from had around 22 million data points and was a bit of a challenge to work with on my computer. The model is incredibly detailed as you can make out the islands in the northern part of the lake and if you print in multi-color the details standout even more. Just use the M600 GCdr printer supports it to get the the multicolor prints if you don't have a multi-color printer.
If you have a problem with this file, let me know so I can check it out and possibly fix it.
