This is a copy of the latern that is fitted to the Märklin 5440 "Max" steam engine. It only comes with one lamp from the factory so if you want to add more lights, you can use this.

The lantern comes with a hole for a light. I recommend using a LED due to the low heat compared to a light bulb.
