Laser-engraved glass

I engraved bowls and jars for fun and to prevent theft from common areas.

More than the design, this Thing is useful to spread the technique of laser-engraving glass.

Glass laser-engraving works the same way that you would engrave acrylic or wood, except for the material. Itworks OK on normal glass. It fails on borosilicate glass because shards keep coming out of the engraved area, not matter how much I scrub, and I wasted one large borosilicate bowl this way. If you're unsure, you may want to engrave a small part and see the results there.

Both front- and back-engraving work well and I include one photo of each.

I also engraved an upright jar on a narrow strip to maintain the laser focused. The text is readable with some effort, but because it's so small, it's not noticeable. I advise against it.
