This is an adapter to allow mounting a laser sight to a Celestron Nexstar 6SE telescope.
When using a GoTo scope, you need to find the alignment stars during setup. In my initial use, I'm still uncertain about the utility of this as a finder. The parallax issue tends to impede accuracy. I'll have to do a few more sessions with it before making a final determination. I'm not sure it's accurate enough to put stars in the eyepiece view. There was a strong moon and that may have affected my results.
It's very useful to see exactly where in the sky your scope is pointing.
One of the things I never really liked about GoTo scopes is that, although they make finding objects incredibly easy, I lose the connection to the sky and often cannot really tell where in the sky the object is located. I expect that having a laser show you where the scope is pointing allows me to understand and get to know the night sky better than with the scope alone.
This adapter screws on using existing mounti
