The Leisey Shell pit of Hillsborough County, Florida, contained a variety of *Equus* species fossils. Of these, the species informally termed species "A" was the most common found. Broadly, the animals that these fossils belonged to are referred to as "horses", although genus *Equus* also contains zebra and donkeys. Hulbert refers specifically to Leisey *Equus* A as close in form to the extinct *Equus scotti* and *Equus conversidens* . There has long been controversy over the taxonomy of pleistocene *Equus*, and this morphospecies may not even be a member of the *Equus*.
I have reconstructed the life appearance based upon a partial skeleton from Leisey 1A. You may find further resources in Hulbert's paper as found below.
