A spiral galaxy I created, as something to float and rotate on the Magnetic Levitation Kit that actually floats and rotates in space. It is a moderately realistic model, in that the spiral arms are logarithmic in form and picked out in the blue colour associated with young star formation, and the bulge-to-disk ratio is within the range seen in real galaxies, but obviously with a fair amount of stylization – the little spheres are not supposed to be individual stars, but more a pointillist representation of brightness. There are three parts – bottom and top half, and a cylinder that joins the two together. Remove the magnet from the puck in which it is supplied in the Levitation Kit, and slide off the 40mm thin disk that is held quite firmly in place by the magnet. This model doesn't (yet!) use the LEDs, so leave them and the coil behind too. The bare magnet should fit in the bottom of the bulge of the lower half. Put the cylinder in above it, and the upper half on top of that. Orie
