As I was upgrading some lights in my garage workshop, I realized that most of the 4ft shop lights that I could find simply plugged into a standard outlet. Unfortunately, the screw spacing of a ceiling lighting box was a little too far apart to put a standard outlet in. Looking around on the Internet, I could find companies selling adapter plates that were basically just cut-out pieces of aluminum, but nothing that added any depth to account for the outlet itself as lighting junction boxes are far too shallow to accommodate an outlet. So, I made my own.
