I enjoy printing lithophanes. I started out with White and Off-White filaments. These turned our great! I wanted to try some other filament colors but wasn't sure how opaque some of them were. I created a black and white gradient image then I used https://lithophanemaker.com/ to create the STL. The site lets you specify the minimum and maximum thickness to adjust for the opacity of your filament.
The .txt files show the settings I used for the thick and thin versions. I'd suggest printing the thick one version. If you don't see any difference in the shade of some of the thicker squares then try the thin version.
