Lunar Sampling Unit

This is a lunar sampling unit I designed in Solidworks 2018. The angled cylinder houses an auger, which is attached to a mini DC motor. The motor can rotate with 2 degrees of freedom to allow for blockage. The auger will pick up solid samples as well as loose sample and deposit it into the main cylinder. The unit is controlled with a small motor driving the front two wheels forward or backward. A separate motor will control the steering for the rear wheel. A housing on top of the body allows for the unit to be controlled via remote control. A camera can easily be mounted to the top, side, or bottom of the body. This unit is lightweight and easily maneuvered to ensure the proper samples can be collected.
