Lung Exerciser ( Expand-A-Lung clone)

I had been reading recommendations for a resistance training gadget for your lungs called the "Expand-A-Lung" and the reviews seemed very positive. My lungs were damaged by a bad case of flu just before covid, and they haven't fully recovered yet, so I decided to give this gadget a try. But when I looked at it, it seemed really simplistic for a $30 gadget: a snorkel/scuba mouthpiece with a screw valve that controlled how much air could be drawn into the mouthpiece.

I had a spare snorkel mouthpiece around so decided to make a proof of concept for the gadget at home before buying one. It seems to work as advertised: screw it down tight for maximum resistance when breathing through it, open it up for minimal resistance.

NOTE: You will need to get hold of a silicone mouthpiece for snorkel or scuba gear before you can use this.
