There are Faced counters, which illustrate things like life, power, toughness, mana, loyalty, energy, abilities, etc; and there are Basic counters, which are stacked under Faced counters.Let's say you want to add 3 Energy. You take a Faced Energy counter and place 2 Basic counters underneath it.
