This is designed to fit together and form a "mold" to wind enameled copper "magnetic" wire onto. The wire can be glued with PVA glue before and during its removal from the spool. A "Release agent" is probably required. Suggestions include cling film or Vaseline. The coil will be coreless and light weight. Ideal for creating a magnetic actuator for RC planes, cars etc.
Actuator RC receivers are available and I plan to create my own conversion circuit for a standard receiver using a small H bridge and an ATTiny85.
Update: On the printer I used the axle was not very accurate. I had to file this to get the two items to fit together. I used cling film wrapped around each end and also around the axle before assembly. This worked well. I had to keep applying PVA glue and then leaving it. It broke open relatively easily. I applied more glue before removing from the final half. The coil worked well. Self supporting with a clear hole in the middle.
