Why buy when you can design and create?

I needed to add a light to a closet without any source of power other than an outlet in the closet, and wanted to make it turn on when the door was opened rather than require a switch on the wall. I picked up a battery powered light with proximity switch, but decided this would be a great project to hone my design and soldering skills. So, with a few dollars worth of parts (12 volt LED strips, 5.5 mm plugs and jacks, 12 volt power supply, and a magnetic switch), a few measurements, and a few hours printing time, I now have a fully-functional closet light that will last far longer than incandescent bulbs, costs pennies to operate, and is easy to scale to other sizes if needed.

I used white PLA for the enclosure, and have white PLA cover as well as transparent PETG cover, depending on how bright I want it to be (or, better still, how bright my wife wants it to be!). I also used a honeycomb infill pattern for the top, since I wanted the p
