Magpie

I've always loved the glossy purple and blue undertones in a Magpie's feathers, like an iridescent oil slick. These birds visit my yard all year long and splash around in my bird bath and perform acrobatics to get the peanuts out of my bird feeder. They used to be pesky (they like swooping down on my cats and chasing the smaller birds away), but we've come to an understanding now – they leave my cats alone and leave the other birds alone at their feeders, and I'll provide them with peanuts and big enough bird baths to splash around in.
