After adding glasses to the side of my makerbot 5th gen. it was clear that I needed to design a cover. This is not the finished project, notice the missing hinges, but all print parts are done. Now the printer holds the temperature pretty good and it´s even a little bit quieter than before, really love how the cover turned out.
For my build I used 18mm black MDF and it worked just great (predrill the holes with a small drillbit):
Top: 465mm x 326mm
Back: 465mm x 120mm (little gap for sealing band between makerbot and wood)
The glass is 5mm and was inserted with black silicone.
As sealing band I used adhesive isolation for windows
Keep in mind that you need to increase the infill on some parts as the layer orientation is not always perfect for the screws.
Any suggestions or questions? Let me know.
