Mario Automaton

My partner and I were assigned the job of creating an automaton for this project. Automatons are basic systems that use cams and followers to perform a repeating motion or function. My partner and I came up with the idea of creating a "Super Mario video game scene" in which various characters from the game do simple actions to bring the setting to reality.  The hypnotic motions of the cams that lift and descend the followers are all controlled by a simple lever twist! This 23.5cm X 7.5cm X 16.5cm piece turned out great! This is also a very fun project if you are a fan of Mario!
