Hexes are scaled to fit the most common and popular printed hex maps for mecha wargames.
Top surfaces are scored between hexes but otherwise unmarked, so you will have to mark things like light and heavy forests separately. This should keep the hills useful for later games on open hex maps, swapping and combining them to your heart's content!
