mechanical iris

well, I saw this amazing steampunk wooden mechanical iris one time and only had one problem with it. most mechanical irises use a pivoting method for the leaves such that they separate and have gaps between each other as soon as the iris starts to open. So I sketched up a quick concept where the leaves stay together and look more like a camera iris throughout the range of motion. Sorry it is missing some pins etc but I usually only model one such item when doing a patterned concept piece.
