Mechanically Locking Gift Card Box

This gift box uses a double crank mechanism to lock its lid. Simply turn the knob to release the gift inside! It is perfectly sized for standard gift cards or small cash gifts. Print Settings: Supports: No supports needed. Orientation: Print all parts in the provided orientation. Quantity: Make sure to print 2x middle and 2x outer hinge parts. Material: PLA works well. If you have issues with middle hinges breaking, PETG might be a better option. Lid Assembly Instructions: With the lid inverted (upside down), insert the inner and outer hinges. Important: The orientation of the outer hinges is crucial. One side is flat, the opposite side is slightly tapered. The flat side should rest against the lid. The tapered side should face towards the container. With the inner hinge oriented horizontally and outer hinges protruding about 5mm past the outer edge of the lid, snap the middle hinges into place. Some force is required. Be careful to press straight down – applying load at an angle while pressing may cause them to break. The knob needs to be glued onto the top of the inner hinge. Test fit the knob first to ensure the hinge moves smoothly. Use a small amount of glue (e.g., superglue) to permanently connect the knob and inner hinge. Warning: Too much glue can run onto the lid and lock the mechanism. Tip: If you invert the entire assembly while drying (turn it upside down), glue cannot leak downwards.
