This metric drill gauge can be used to check the dimensional accuracy of a printer or the effect of layer height. Additionally, it can be used as a [reference](http://steelcityelectronics.com/da-vinci-3d-printer/3d-printing-holes-aint-holes/) when designing holes for your creations.
For example, when printed with my machine, what has been designed as a 3mm hole will actual print as a 2mm aperture. As such, I use this gauge as standard when incorporating holes into my designs.
My printer consistently makes hole diameters 1mm smaller than specified over the range of this drill gauge. All hole dimensions were validated with a set of metric drill bits.
