I wanted a means to hold my Adonstar AD407 microscope camera in a clamp so that I could position it beyond the flexibility of the standard stand. I designed this 3D clamp that holds onto the microscope shaft and attaches to my RODE PSA1 boom arm. This allows me to get high or low magnification on the AD407 by easily adjusting the micrsocope height. I can also rapidly move it out of the way via the boom arm. I feed the AD407 to my PC via the camera HDMI output and into the PC via a HDMI to USB adapter box.
The RODE boom arm can attach a device either by the native 3/8in fitting or via the 5/8in adapter. I couldn't find the correct 3/8in screw thread in Fusion 360 with the right thread pitch. In the end, I went for the 5/8in fitting with 27TPI thread (ANSI US Thread, 5/8-27UN Class 3B) in Fusion 360 as the closest match.
The clamp secures to the 35mm micrsocope lens shaft and tightens around the shaft with a GoPro M5 thumb screw.
